I was thinking about something like that! I'm assuming that Whatsapp is probably the one that most people use?
WhatsApp's a good bet I reckon - pretty universal so won't require anyone to download new apps, plus you can pin messages for important announcements, add a group description, and restrict admin privileges to maintain a bit of decorum etc etc
